The reference setup used our own CFexpress Type A-to-PCIe adapter, an MSI PRO Z690-A motherboard, Intel Core i9-12900K and Windows 11 Enterprise. These are PC transfer results, not camera recording speeds.
Sequential figures: CrystalDiskMark 8.0.2 x64, SEQ1M Q8T1, 1GiB test size, five passes. Full-card write figures: AIDA64 Linear Write, with the block size shown for each capacity.
Our supplier confirmed a matching controller, flash and firmware configuration. These are reference measurements, not our own PC tests of every shipped card. Host, reader, capacity, temperature and workload can affect results. A lowest observed value is not a guaranteed minimum or VPG certification.
03 / Your camera
For cameras and readers with a CFexpress Type A slot. Our Type A range includes PCIe 3.0 and PCIe 4.0 versions, used the same way. The card featured on this page is the PCIe 4.0 model.
Type A is not interchangeable with CFexpress Type B, CFast, CompactFlash or SD. Check that your camera’s slot is marked CFexpress Type A, not a generic “CF” label.
Our PCIe 3.0 Type A card, rated up to 800 MB/s read and write. Same card size, same use in Type A cameras and readers.
The featured card. It also works in Type A cameras and readers built for PCIe 3.0, at that host’s speed: in our PC reference test the 1TB card read at about 905 MB/s on PCIe 3.0, against about 1800 MB/s on PCIe 4.0.
The camera decides which recording modes a card can be used for. Check your camera manual for the card speed each format needs, and keep its firmware up to date. Our footage was recorded on a Sony FX3; other cameras and modes have not been tested by us. No VPG certification is claimed. A card reader is not included; for full offload speed, use a CFexpress 4.0 Type A reader on a fast enough port.

Yes, in compatible earlier-generation CFexpress Type A devices. A PCIe 3.0 host limits the card to the host’s supported speed. Available recording modes still depend on firmware and media requirements. Type A is not Type B, CFast or CompactFlash.
PCIe 4.0 x1 with NVMe is the card’s interface, and the card follows the CFexpress 4.0 standard. Our CFexpress Type A Memory Card - PCIe 3.0 belongs to CFexpress 2.0 and is rated up to 800 MB/s. Both fit cameras and readers with a CFexpress Type A slot, and a PCIe 3.0 host limits this card to the host’s speed.
The benchmarks are peak results from a PC test setup. A slower reader, a USB port, a PCIe 3.0 host, a long sustained write or a different computer all change the figure. In-camera recording speed is set by the camera and its recording mode, not by the card’s peak.
You receive your order's test report and full packing video; a test video is supplied where available. The Sony FX3 clips shown here demonstrate the supplied sample and recording setup. The separate PC performance figures are reference benchmarks for a supplier-confirmed matching configuration.
This CFexpress Type A card has a five-year limited warranty from delivery for covered defects under normal use. CFexpress Type A and Type B cards both carry five years; other products have a 180-day limited warranty. Read the full warranty policy below or contact info@lambdagrove.com.
You can ask for a change-of-mind return within 14 calendar days after your order is delivered. Written approval and an RMA number are needed before you send anything back, and an approved return of a non-defective item has a 15% restocking fee where the law allows. A card that matches its description but does not suit your camera is not a warranty defect, so check your slot and recording format first, or ask us.
